OUR SCARPLANINAC, NINA
POSTED August 20, 2015
She is a guard dog supreme, especially when it counts, when we aren’t home. She doesn’t like 2-legged, nor 4 legged intruders, as it should be. When we are around, she is very calm.
We have a male also of the same breed ( pictures coming), and hope to have a litter from them Spring 2016. Their pups will be US $ 1000.
These dogs are not for everyone. They need room and an experienced owner. If you live in a city/town, this is not the dog for you. They CAN be socialized, but will be very protective, especially of children in the family. If you live in the country, they do not roam. They know their home territory. If you live where it’s cold, even better.
Originally the dogs were bred as livestock guardians and are still used in that capacity. They are independent thinkers, which a good guard dog needs to be.

We were honoured to see our pups chosen for this movie. The pup in this poster: "Henry" (IFC. Branko's Spot X Branko's Miss Chrissy. Henry now resides in Louisiana, and has become the hunting dog he was always meant to be.

Due to a recent health scare, quite a few dogs are now for sale. Will we go out of dogs entirely? No, we cannot imagine life without beagles. However, on doctors’ orders, quite a few must find new homes.
Some of the “picks of the litter” for 2014 will have to leave, unfortunately. Will they be sold at bargain prices? No, that will not happen either. Dogs will be priced according what they are worth, as always.
We ARE willing to work with anyone in putting together a package of 3 or more dogs, suitable to the area they go to, the likes/dislikes of the new owners, and if trialling, the type of trials being attended. We ARE willing to work with you, the client, to make sure the potential for breeding is going to be there, if you look to include males and females. We ARE willing to work with you if it is good gun-dogs you are looking for.
DO remember that we have ALWAYS bred for the gun, first and foremost. In our books, there shouldn't be a difference between a good gun-dog and trial dog.
Ft. Ch. Branko's MTS
POSTED February 24, 2014
I would like to feature Ft.Ch. Branko’s MTS, a true 13 inch female. MTS placed this year 2nd in the 13 inch bitch class at the AKC Large Pack Nationals. Why is this important? Well, she was the oldest in her class by far, and the oldest on the podium by far. Her age: She is 8 years old.
In our opinion, if a dog is good when she is 2, she should be as good, if not better at age 8. Although we had to travel 4000 miles, she was none the worse for wear. Believe me, such a trip takes it toll on dogs ( and the owners….) alike.
MTS embodies what a good beagle should be: very intelligent, super hunter, very honest nose, very honest mouth, built as they should be, and as a bitch, very good producer and mother.
MTS produces pups exactly like herself, carbon copies. In order words, a superior foundation female. We hope she stays around for a few more years to come.

Pooch Paradise, Where Champion Beagles Run Free
POSTED May 22, 2012
NEAR ST. LAURENT -- Had enough of puppy-mill stories? Meet the anti-puppy mill. These dogs are so happy it's almost criminal. Male and female beagles are split up and each gender gets their own 258 hectares of fenced-off bush and pasture. They run around chasing rabbits all day, which happens to be a beagle's biggest joy in life. You can almost hear Born Free playing in the background.
Branko's Beagles is Downsizing
POSTED January 13, 2012
We have made the decision to downsize and are willing to part with many of the dogs in the kennel. A few will be listed on the website, there are many more in the kennel at the present time. If you are able to come and pick and choose your dogs that would be best. You can either stay at our home or in a local hotel ~ contact us for costs.
All running dogs (males and females), regardless of age, start @ $1200 plus shipping/delivery where applicable. We always try to match the dogs to your likes/dislikes, your area, trials you compete in etc. This is not an easy decision for us, but it simply had to be made. When there are enough dogs to be delivered, we do organize a delivery into the various parts of the U.S., both pups and adults. However, with all these difficulties, we have decided to downsize significantly.
This is an ideal opportunity for those wishing to start, for those wishing to increase and for those wishing to upgrade or bring in new bloodlines. Remember, we are willing to part with dogs representing the best of the best.

Better Beagling Hall of Fame
POSTED January 13, 2012
Branko and Frieda Krpan were nominated and voted into the Better Beagling Hall of Fame. This is a tremendous honour and we thank all our fellow beaglers for both the nomination and the voting.
POSTED January 13, 2012
We made the trip to Lacona, N.Y. (by way of Ohio, 5700 kilometers round trip). It was great to see many of our old, and many of our newer friends. Our dogs did us justice in the trial, even with the long trip under their belt. The trial was one of skill and stamina, not only for the judges/owners, but certainly for the dogs. The 15 inch males ran 2 consecutive days, a total of approximately 16 hours. The tough running conditions, minimal amount of game and moving from running grounds a number of times, required a lot of all the dogs in the final pack of 13 hounds. All of these dogs (and their owners) are to be congratulated. We would like to thank the Sandy Creek Beagle Club with doing an excellent job in the organizing of this event. The volunteers were great and hospitable. The AKC organizing Committee were and are dedicated people who have only the best in mind for the sport as a whole.
15" Male Class:
- F.T. Branko's Olympus certainly held his ground both days according to judges. He deservedly placed #1.
- Int. F.C. Branko's Spot placed for the 3rd time at this event. He has now placed 2x 2nd and 1x 3rd.
- Branko's Big Mick placed 2nd, although not owned by ourselves at the present time, he was bred by us and now is proudly owned by Larry Wilson.
13" Male Class:
- 2nd place went to F.C. Branko's Doc Watson. He is co-owned with Denny Dugan. Denny has done a great job in campaigning this outstanding little hound and we look forward to his offspring.
- 3rd place went to Ft. Ch. Branko's MTM. MTM is an outstanding individual, and this was his 2nd time placing 2nd at this event. His first offspring are very, very promising.
pups for sale
We do not always have pups for sale, particularly not during our Winter months. Here in Manitoba, it is not unusual to have temperatures 40 below (Fahrenheit and Celsius) for 2-3 week stretches. Our pups are mostly ready to go to their new environments starting in the Spring, through till about July.view
adults for sale
We have decided to part with some of our outstanding females at this time. Whether you are looking for a good gundog or trial dog, contact us. We will try our best to find you a female that will suit your particular circumstance. Some running, younger dogs may also become available.view
